4th Annual B.L.V.D. Juneteenth Sidewalk Poetry Show

This is an annual poetry event on Juneteenth in Galveston, TX. And last year’s event was the first Sidewalk Poetry Show at the Proletarian; an event that's talked about still to this day. One of the purpose of the show is to honor the ancestors of Juneteenth freedom, and especially for those ancestors who did not get a taste of that same freedom with the freedom provided to us by them to read and write.

This is the fourth Poetry Show in the efforts of helping the city of Galveston promote their annual Juneteenth festivities. And through the art of Spoken Wordz; these poetic words are used as a way to tell stories about the history of the day in order to educate those in attendance; the ones who did not grow up celebrating Juneteenth when it was a big thing in Galveston before Ike.

Secondly, the Poet Lineup is made up of some of the best, and well-known women and men of the poetry art world come together to display their strong grammatical writing power, storytelling poems that's a style of beauty. With excellent stage presence; these poets design heartfelt poems, with unveiled emotions through their voices to educate, and teach the youth about the problems young girls, and men face growing up in today's times. We also have a voice in poetry that teaches young men on how to treat their peers, be helpful to others, and most of all; to be more understanding of the young ladies around them as they grow into adults together. Poetry. With this show we hope to bring back an art form of speech that was popular in the days of old, that allows any person to have a voice when they believe that they aren't being heard. In 2024 RapGameBlvd LLC will bring contemporary art of painting and drawings to the show under a theme in order to show the expression and beautiful artists we have among us in Galveston, Houston, and other surrounding cities reaching abroad in the states. So with the donations from the sponsorship providers; we will help the young and old Galveston community with words of encouragement from poetry, and aspiring art work. This poetry event will introduce to the audience in attendance what Poetry has become and the powerful expression in the artists with their talent in a wide range of subject matter.
