Galveston's West End

Galveston's west end is the ideal location on the island for renting beach homes, RV camping, bird watching, fishing and, of course, beaches.

Nature-lovers, head to the West End of Galveston to discover serene landscapes, untouched wildlife, expansive shorelines, and two major conservation areas: Coastal Heritage Preserve and the Galveston Island State Park.

West End History

In the past, the area was home to the native Karankawa Indians, who were famously resistant to the invasions of settlers. One of their burial grounds, now part of the Karankawa Campsite, has become a popular tourist attraction. These days, the West End is a top destination for birding, kayaking, hiking, and simply relishing the great outdoors.
