• Island Quilters Guild - Galveston Island has been home to the Island Quilters Guild since 1991. Their focus is to provide opportunities for its members to learn and appreciate the art of quilting and encourage members to improve their skills and exchange ideas. • Marsha's Petting Zoo - Walk and talk with the animals as you visit Marsha's Petting Zoo. The petting zoo is free; a nominal fee will be charged for feed cups if you wish to feed the animals. www.marshaszoo.com
• The Tot Spot - For the youngest of our guests – play on the Kids Kitchen Band, blow bubbles in the wind, build with foam blocks, or make a sandcastle in our Tot Spot sandbox – it's playtime at its finest!

• Train Ride - All aboard! Take a ride on our mini-train as it circles 22nd Street near Church Street. Train rides are always fun. Make sure you wave to your friends as you pass by!
• Face Painting by the Grand - From young to old, everyone can get their face painted in various ways. From a small to a full-face image, The Grand staff and volunteers can transform you into your favorite animal, fairy, superhero, and more! Please note: A fee is charged based on the design size selected.

The primary goal of The Grand Kids Festival is to provide participatory access to the fine arts for all children through an extension of The Grand's educational outreach and children's programming, to raise an appreciation and awareness of the fine arts for children, to demonstrate the talent and ability of children in the greater Galveston/Houston area, and to create a visible, broad-based event which adheres to The Grand's mission.

The Grand Kids Festival is designed to create an arena for participation by those attending. Virtually all booth and stage activities will be dedicated to “hands-on” projects, such as making musical instruments; creating visual art in a variety of media; learning and acting out folk dances or puppetry. Food and beverage booths, located in a Food Fair area, will be geared toward “fun” but good food for families.

Entertainment areas will include children performing as well as professional artists who specialize in performing for children and families. Performances will include vocal, instrumental and dance groups representing both a diversity of ages and cultures.

A recurring festival favorite is the culmination of a week-long residency of The Missoula Children’s Theatre at The Grand, who will work with local children this year to produce a musical adaptation of Rapunzel. The children will perform two shows on Saturday, during the festival on The Grand’s stage one at 11am and another at 1pm.

There are three outdoor stage areas, inflatables, a petting zoo, pony rides and forty plus activity booths spanning over three blocks along Postoffice Street in downtown Galveston, it is no wonder that over 8,500 people attend this fun-filled festival each year.
