The Artisan Event Venue
The Artisan is a wedding and event venue in Galveston, Texas, known for its blend of historic charm and modern amenities. The Artisan is housed in a 1908-built structure that originally served as the Island City Woodworking mill. The space was a hub for craftsmen, including woodworkers, metalworkers, and musicians, giving it a deep-rooted artisan heritage.
Transformed by Michael & Ashley Cordray
In 2021, the building was purchased by Michael and Ashley Cordray, a husband-and-wife team famous for their work on Save 1900, a project dedicated to restoring historic homes in Galveston. They meticulously transformed the former mill into a rustic-industrial venue, carefully maintaining its historic integrity while updating it for modern events. Their goal was to pay homage to the many artisans who once worked in the space while creating a stylish, versatile venue for weddings, receptions, and special occasions.
